 | 10:15 pm - Awesomeness (in a bad way) Paging thru some random stuff on emusic, I discover this album, which is one of those random comps that re-records the theme songs from a bunch of famous movies and TV shows so they don't have to pay performance residuals.
Including the theme from Mortal Kombat.
With people reciting the sampled lines from the movie.
I'm trying to decide if this is worth a track. I mean, tracks are worth way more now. Current Music: Hybridz - Spiritual Aura (Remix) | Powered by Last.fm

 | 07:32 pm - No one else will care (or even understand), but... After several years, I just finished DVD-burning my way through everything I wanted from emusic. In alphabetical order. Now it's apparently time to go back and start all over again.

 | 08:20 am - Hold onto your downloads, folks... (metaphorically speaking) NYT: Sony Agrees to Provide Its Older Songs to eMusic:
The company plans to announce on Monday that it will add all Sony Music tracks that are more than two years old, including material from artists like Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel... As part of the deal, eMusic says it will slightly raise prices and reduce the number of downloads for some of its monthly plans.
And according to this 17 dots post Sony tracks will start showing up on July 1.

 | 12:40 pm - In the city... City of Compton Just in case somebody had missed it, I wanted to point out that Death Row had recently arrived on emusic. That means we've got: * The Chronic * Doggystyle * All Eyez on Me * ...the clean version of Tha Doggfather? WTF?
Anyways, I just felt this news needed to be spread. Current Music: 2Pac - California Love (remix)

 | 10:49 pm - Downloads are GO I just received four codes for 25 downloads each. They each expire on June 10, 2009, after being entered. The ebay page claims that you have until 1 April 2010 to enter them, and that you should have seven days after entering them to download your tracks.
I'm buying at least three more. Current Music: Eminem - Dream On | Powered by Last.fm

 | 05:50 pm - The last couple weeks in emusic So at some point in the last couple weeks, Six Degrees changed their label name on emusic to "Six Degrees Records / IODA," then changed the downloads rights so they were no longer downloadable in the US, and then re-uploaded all of them under the label "Six Degrees."
So if you had any Six Degrees albums in your emusic collection, you just lost all of them--you have to spend new tracks in order to download them again. And I had a lot of them.
I complained, and got the runaround from emusic for a couple weeks ("It appears that the label has decided to make these albums no longer available for download" "If that's true, then why are they available for download, just that I have to spend more money on them?") until they finally broke down and admitted (sort of) that Six Degrees was screwing up the system. Basically, the terms of their contract now require emusic to treat these albums as new uploads for royalties and all that.
So I still lost my albums.
On the upside, A: This is why I'm burning them all to DVD, so I only lost a couple B: Emusic gave me a free 100 tracks to make me happy. Now, I lost a lot more than that, but it's a nice token.
So if you had any Six Degrees albums that are no longer available for download from your account, complain! Current Music: Godflesh - Xnoybix (Psychofuckdub) | Powered by Last.fm
